February 2005
February was not as busy as January, but
there were a few events. Pandi got her first bath, Valentine's Day was big,
Naomi took a trip home to New York to visit her Granddad and I ran in a Half
Marathon and 12K races.
For Valentine's Day, I bought a Tux and
Naomi a new Dress (I just guessed sizes) and took her out to dinner. She didn't
know anything was happening when she came home from work that day. I told her we
were going somewhere she had been a thousand times before, so I think she was
expecting McDonald's :) Everything was a surprise and wrapped and laid out
on the bed when she came home. I forgot to take a picture of that. We had
a very nice time, it was nice to be out as a couple, we hadn't done that in a long time.
My trip to New York was a quickly
planned and short trip. My Grandfather's beloved companion, Annie Delany,
of 30 years, passed away the week prior. I wasn't able to make the
funeral, but didn't want him to think I didn't care. We had a nice visit.
He was very quiet, which isn't like him at all, but seemed to be in fairly good
spirits. My Aunt was terrific. She helped me pull off the surprise
visit. Picked me up at the airport and was a terrific hostess. She
drove us around the island, to places I remembered as a kid and to the north
shore area, which I don't recall ever going to before. We looked at old
pictures, rescued Bobby from the deep, dark basement, had some really good pizza
and remembered what winter felt like and why I don't miss it. In all a
nice visit for all. I hope to do it again soon.
