Day 1 of 18
It was a long drive to Dallas, and I did not sleep at all the night before because I was
so anxious, so I am dying right now. I did not write down the mileage or anything, I will
get it tomorrow and correct the web site then. We went about 820 miles (670+ miles on 14+
gallons only filling up once for 99.9 on I-20 at Texas exit 596). Total drive time was 14
hours (including the 2 hour stop in Vicksburg).
The drive was very good, we had a good time in Vicksburg and took pix of each state line
we crossed. You will notice the first it is still very dark. Vicksburg was our only stop
touring the battlefield / cemetery and then the old court house / museum.
Then on to Dallas, we got lost trying to find the hotel in the West end, and I stopped to
ask directions (now you know I was lost). After checking in, dumping most the stuff, we
headed to the bug meet with all the other NB List pods.
The food at the Blue Mesa Grill was great and everyone was wonderful. We had 7 NBs
attending, Theresa (cyber green "Newton"), David Allen (Bright Blue
"Moonie"), Dradon (99 Drk Blue, sunroof & leather), Laura (Yellow
"Beagle"), Karl (Black "Scooter"), and Michael (Red
"Rosiebear") & me. We took pix and traded stories, I gave them Herbies and
they gave us a bottle of Hot Jalapeno Relish.
It was really nice seeing such an active group of NB folks. On to Carlsbad in the morning
with David. Michael loaned us some of those 2-way radios so we can keep in touch while we
caravan to Roswell in the morning.
Check out the pix, sorry the technical stuff is not done yet, but I need sleep.
