Day 2 of 12 - Washington DC
Today we started by walking to the White House and then to Smithsonian Natural History museum. After a quick hot dog on the street, we headed for the Turkey Run park to meet the DC NB group. We meet with 4 other NB owners, Anne & Blue Moon, Ric & un-named of 2, Steve & Darth VW, and Russ & Bug. We chatted for awhile and then had the presentation of the Giant Herbie. Pix below. Anne then drew the other winner out of the hat Linda P from Alaska sent me. The winner was #5, the bad part was (other than I know Naomi lost again:( was I did not have a list of the entries, so I did not know who won. Yikes!!
I called a friend Steve in Atlanta, and he checked the web site and informed me it was Paul from Charlottetown, Prince Edwards Island, Canada. So the Herbie will be going across the border and not coming back. Afterwards, we headed to Mount Vernon. It was a wonderful drive along George Washington Parkway to include 3 sightings of very aggressive "Punch Buggy" along the way. It was funny watching the reaction we got with 5 NBs driving through Old Town.
Once at Mount Vernon we took the tour, which did not allow pictures inside the house. It was interesting to see the home of our first president. After the tour we headed back to Old Town for dinner. We had a good meal and attracted allot of stares while driving into town. After dinner we chatted with a few Harley owners who had set up along the road side. Some real nice bikes.
We had a really nice time, thanks all you NB folks from DC, you were great hosts & hostesses. The trip along the river was beautiful, the food was good and the company was great.
