Day 3 of 12
From Katie:
Well Hello everyone's who's following us on this journey. Hi most of y'all already know me. I'm Mitch's daughter, Katie, I'll be writing most of this today. So bare with me.
This morning we had breakfast at the hotel, then we checked out and headed over to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial that was really cool. I guess I never realized how many people gave their lives for us. I got a USMC Seal and a USMC emblem that said "Mess with the Best ... Die Like the Rest" both are patches and are for my boyfriend. Afterwards, we left there and went to the Washington Memorial and the reflection pool. That was really magnificent to see something like that. We then Proceed to the Lincoln Memorial it was Good it was erected so long ago it's amazing how magnificent it still looks. We walked around that area for a while about 2 hours. We saw the World War I memorial for every one who served from Washington DC that was very intriguing.
We then drove to the Air and Space Museum my dad enjoyed it, for the most part we saw a planet atrium type show about stars. I'm more of a car, fashion, military, and nature type person. I know it sounds like a weird combination, it's easier to say Tomboy.
Then we went to the USMC Museum at the corner of 9th and M St. SE. I really enjoyed that a lot. I got a USMC teddy bear and a decal for my car and a post card which has the Marine Corps Hymn ( I'm sending it to my boyfriend Brent tonight. ) After the Museum we hit the road and proceed on our way to Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Which is where my dad's best friend Kevin lives. We stopped and got diesel fuel, we went 744 miles on 14.5 gallons this tank. So I'm writing while my dad's driving. That's all for now.
Love ya,
Katie
