Day 5 of 12
We started by going to the dealer first thing in the morning. Scott & Wes took good care of us and would have had us back on the road in 2 hours, but we had to wait for the extended warranty folks to call back a paid for the repair. So during the 3.5 hours we were there, I browsed around, and they had plenty to look at. 2-1.8T auto, 1-TDI auto & a TT.
Scott got us right in and they first were going to try and remove the broken motor and regulator and fix the window in the UP position. After they were not happy with the results they found a donor NB and replace everything.
After finishing there we continued on our trip leaving The Howie Inn at about noon and heading for Toronto. We took a few pictures there and headed for Montreal where we got a few more pictures and stuck in traffic:( We then headed for Quebec and met up with a list member, Benoit and his Red NB. Unfortunately we did not get to his neck of the woods until a little after 10 pm. We had a quick dinner at a local place and went to the VW dealer for a few pictures in the dark:( They had a silver NB 1.8T with wing deployed.
We then continued to our hotel, arriving at about 2 am. Paul, we are going to be late, hopefully around 3 pm tomorrow for the Herbie prize award ceremony, don't start without us:)
Repairs: The extended warranty paid for most, but not all. I am calling them when I get back about why they would not pay for one part. The cost was $144 labor $333.10 parts, $71.57 tax totaling $548.67 paid by the AAA extended warranty. I paid an additional $159.90 for the part not covered, bringing the total repair cost to $708.57. Of course this is all Canadian, so that is about $12 US:)
