Saturday February 17, 2001 The Strand District in Galveston. This is an historic district and has balconies similar to those found in New Orleans. Making this a good area to hold Mardi Gras festivities. There was some entertainment, lots of food and a lot of people all trying to get some beads. It is amazing what lengths people will go to just to catch some plastic beads.
Later that night, it was back to Sea Wall Blvd. to watch the next parade. "Close Encounters of the Gambrinus Kind". There was mostly all floats in this parade, the day time parade had allot of bands. The floats in the parade, were professionally made floats, with lots of lights. The crowd was much rowdier then during the day time parade. It wasn't as much fun as the day time parade, guess I just don't like to get trampled.
