oh wow-- that would be amazing.   i wonder if we'd have trouble finding a site for it though.

Just looked on the Roswell site and Cottonwood seems to be the tree of choice out there.  I have inquired to the Roswell COC as to how we go about doing some thing out there like that.

First and foremost, Mitch, just read about Katie.  As we Quakers say "We'll hold your family in the light" meaning you and your family are in our prayers.

Your Angel    From: skanda@mail.rowland.k12.ca.us (Steve Kanda)

Dear Mitch,

As young as she was, Katie touched a lot of lives, some who never even met her.  Those people were made better by that brief exposure.  I know you are a great dad because she was such a great kid.

The world is a better place because Katie was in it, even if for only a brief time.  That was her contribution in life and you can be proud of it for giving her life.

My sincerest condolences,

Steve Kanda, fellow newbug lister

[NewBug] Angel stickers    From: BROWERJR1@aol.com

Just wanted to report in that Judy and I received our Katie stickers today in the mail.  Sure made a Monday after a long weekend worthwhile.

For those that are waiting to get theirs, or haven't ordered one, David did an excellent job on the stickers.

Thanks for the quick response on the sticker. It looks great! I will put it on tomorrow. Is there an unofficial sticker location for this one? i.e. hatch window lower right.

Katie    From: "Craig Kettles" <craig@lakerabun.com>

Mitch,

I was so touched by the love that so many people have for Katie.  Although I only met her the one time at Regina's party, I believe that all was said about her was very accurate -- she was an angel.  I know that you are proud of the young woman she became as well you should be.  You should also be proud of yourself for making time for her -- that is the best you could have ever given her and I am sure she is eternally grateful for it.

Now that Katie is being taken care of, I know she would want you to take care of yourself.  You have experienced the greatest loss that a person can feel.  Your pain must run deep and it will always be there.  Katie loves you and is glad that you miss her, but she wants you to heal and rebuild your life.  It will be hard to want to take care of yourself, but you must do it for Katie, otherwise she will be too sad.

When you have the energy, I encourage you to seek out therapy and support groups of other parents that have lost their child.  It is something that no one can go through alone. Please call or e-mail if there is anything that I can do for you.  I am so sorry for your loss.  All that I can do is to help Katie by encouraging you to not give up on life.  I know that is what she wants, even though it will be a difficult struggle for you.  Rebuild your life for Katie.  Continue to honor her and love her by seeking comfort and peace both in the great memories that you have and in the help of counselors and other parents that have suffered a similar loss.  You can't do this alone.

Your friend,

Craig

Mitch:

I just heard about what happened to Katie.  Bill Chow emailed me when I asked him if you were still on the list.  I just wanted to send my thoughts of condolence.   Katie lived a lively fun and happy life with parents she adored---I could tell that by meeting her just for the brief time we spent in Victoria British Columbia, Canada.  Remember when I drove up to meet you while you were doing laundry and Katie was having a massage?

Mitch, I hope her death won't mean that you will stop being the fun loving person Katie loved so much.   This is so tragic.  I will keep you and your family in prayer as I pray for my own.   I know God loves Katie so much more than we can even imagine and I hope the Lord can be  a source of comfort to your family during this black time.

God bless you,

Wendy Jessen

[NewBug] Angel sticker.    From: Arthur van Mourik <AvanMourik@Essilor.NL>

Wow, looks like even the postal service is running extra fast to get the Angel sticker to the other side of the pool, it was not even a week ago that I asked you David for a sticker and I already have it over here in the Netherlands. Thank you David for the nice service.

This will be the first sticker on all the cars I had, even the required country sticker I always remove of my cars but the Angel sticker is more than welcome on the rear window of my black Beetle.

It must be nice for Katie when she's over Europe that she sees someone of her "family".

Aufwiedersehen,

Arthur van Mourik.

Lost Angel    From: IOUZIP00@aol.com

Perry I have six girl Angels and one boy Angel, I can't imagine what it would be like to have one of mine leave temporarily as yours did. I do know you have to love them any and every way you can as often as you can. The spark that you have left in your aching heart will IGNITE to all it's brilliance when you return to your Angels waiting arms. Cherish the memories your Angel bestowed upon you. She is remembered in my prayers.

        Regards

        Pam (My Angel #2's) Dad

NewBug] Off Topic - please respond off list    From: Michael Levine <txmrlevine@excite.com>

txmrlevine@excite.com would be who to respond to.

I have talked to Roswell, NM Parks and Recreation and we can actually do something for Katie in Roswell.

We all know that Katie would have wanted to be there. And we all know she will be with us in our hearts.

There is a donation required to do this and let me see how many people respond to this e-mail before I tell everyone how much it might be per person.

I really wanted it to be a surprise for Mitch but it would have taken me some time to put a list of people together and I would not want to exclude anyone who wants to participate.

If anyone wants more info please e-mail off the list. That way I can keep the participants anonymous. And what we are actually doing will still be anonymous to Mitch.

My sympathy for your loss.   From: "Andrew Howat" <Andrew.Howat@currantbun.com>

I know it's a hard time for you, but me and all the Newcastle, UK New and Old Beetle owners.  I'm only 16, so I know how it must be so terrible that she's only just learnt to drive and then that happened.  My best wishes are with you and your family

Andrew Howat.

Fwd: Re: [NewBug] Off Topic - please respond off list   From: Michael Levine <txmrlevine@excite.com>

Folks below is an e-mail I sent to Mitch because he wanted to participate in what I was concocting for R2K.  I felt it only fair to tell him what was up.  Like many folks had expressed I didn't want to make that weekend about Katie but wanted to share the R2K experience w/her.

Anyway read the e-mail as to what is going on.  Currently I have more that 35 participants which makes the donation a nominal 10 bucks or so. Depending on what we finally decide to do and if I get more responses.

If you guys think it's a good Idea and still want to participate I'll get more info finalized in the coming weeks and getting back to you.

Well Actually I wanted to have it be a gift from the list to you in her memory.  David Allen had told me you might have heard of other things people wanted to do at R2K and he said I might want to drop you a line before it gets a little overdone.

You are more than welcome to participate.  I have spoke with the Roswell Parks and Recreation and they told me of a donation I could make to erect a park bench in Katie's memory.  I have since wrote back to see if we could have it erected at the convention center.  Haven't heard back yet.

We can also buy a plaque ourselves and they will mount it for us.

You know before everyone all these details.  David had mentioned there are no picnic tables out there.  Maybe if I get enough participants I can get something like that done.

I just want it to be something Katie would appreciate.
