Unfolding The Rose Bud    From: BASSETT5@aol.com

A new Christian was walking with a more mature friend in a garden one day and feeling a bit insecure about God's will for his life, he inquired what he should do.  His friend walked up to a rosebush, handed him a rosebud, and told him to open it without tearing off any petals.

The new Christian looked in disbelief at his friend and tried to figure

Out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the WILL OF GOD for his life. But because of his high respect for his friend proceeded to TRY to unfold the rose, while keeping every petal intact...It wasn't long before he realized how impossible it was to do so.

Noticing the younger Christian's inability to unfold the rosebud while keeping it intact, his friend began to recite the following poem...

It is only a tiny rosebud,

A flower of GOD's design;

But I cannot unfold the petals

With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers

Is not known to such as I.

GOD opens this flower so sweetly,

When in my hands they fade and die.

If I cannot unfold a rosebud,

This flower of GOD's design,

Then how can I think I have wisdom

To unfold this life of mine?

So I'll trust in Him for His leading

Each moment of every day.

I will look to him for His guidance

Each step of the pilgrim way.

The pathway that lies before me,

Only my Heavenly Father knows.

I'll trust Him to unfold the moments,

Just as He unfolds the rose.

Katie’s Park Bench   From: Michael Levine <txmrlevine@excite.com>

Quick note about Katie's Park Bench

I am currently working w/ Parks and Recreation in Roswell to find a site for the bench.  I am trying to get it put somewhere around the Convention/Civic Center.  It will probably be a week or so and I will actually solicit your donations.  With the overwhelming support I received the donations will only be about 10 dollars.  It is $300 for the bench and we can get a plaque also that will be placed on a pedestal (I think) near the bench.

My address is

Michael Levine

1418 N Trail Dr

Carrollton, TX 75006-1419

For those of you who wish to send the money now.  Any thing left over from donations after the bench and plaque are purchased will be sent to Katie's school.

Thank you for your support

Michael Levine

More on Katie's Bench    From: Michael Levine <txmrlevine@excite.com>

Well,

Just talked to one of the guys in Roswell having to do w/ the install of the Benches.  The total cost will be 550 or so.  Mitch says he will pitch in the Plaque.  Now Mitch supposedly David Allen has toured some of the Parks and if we do not put the Bench in the CC Plaza there are parks less than a mile away we could get the bench constructed in.

SO Hold on to your donations.  (I apologize if I sent the other e-mail prematurely.  Looks like the donation will be 20 dollars not 10.

Hope everyone is still interested.  Want to give the People in Roswell some time to get the bench and have it ready for us to visit.

Final Arrangements for Katie's Bench    From: Michael Levine <txmrlevine@excite.com>

Spoke w/ Carroll Hargrove at Roswell Parks and Recreation.  It seems the benches that are used at the Civic Center are special and cost more than the park Benches.

Mitch had expressed something and I got it taken care of.  I will have

Roswell Parks and recreation assemble the bench and Bring it to the Sally Port for a Dedication maybe Friday before or during the Party.  They can leave it there all weekend then take the bench to a nice cozy spot in a local park where it will reside permanently.  That location will be divulged during R2K.

That way if anyone wants to actually see the spot where the bench will be moved to they can go there.  By having it at the Sally Port more people can get to see it and spend some time there.

The donations come to a minimum of 15 dollars.  Remember all left over donations after the bench is paid for will be going in a check and will be given to Mitch to get to Katie's School.

Send Check or MO to:

Michael Levine

1418 N Trail Dr

Carrollton, TX 75006

I will wait until I get all the money and then cash the check so it might show un-cashed on our account for a while.  That way I can go to the bank at one time and do all the transactions at once.

Thank you for assisting me in making this happen.  I am sure Mitch and Katie appreciate it also.

Michael

To Mitch    From: Bill Chow <billchow@uniserve.com>

Dear Mitch,

Have been very hard for me to write this letter to you. I am not sure how to start because even when I didn't know both of you for long time I think you don't need much time to get close to somebody. When I meet Katie I feel very close to her because we spend a special time for both of us. I knew her in that short time more than some time you can know people that you see everyday. She was a really nice person to be around. When I heard the bad news I told Bill that somebody was playing a very stupid joke to us. After he confirm me that it was true. I was extremely sad and I don't want to write to you for that reason. I know how you feel. I know nobody can give you back what she took with her but she will be always with the people that she met and with you specially. It is more important an intense life full of love like she had than a long life full of sadness. She left full of dreams not knowing the sad part of the history. I know she is with us who meet here looking for us and thinking about us. She will be always here not changing with the time neither with the bad days. Always happy and smiling to us. I know she is happy waiting to see you and all of us one day.

Wishing you the best of all Mitch

                Carolina and Bill.

Re: Katie's Accident    From: fkern@us.ibm.com

Mitch,

I will be more than happy to provide any assistance or support I can.

Have you considered going through a Federal organization like the NHTSA?

December news on the NEW BEETLE   From: Mitch Perry <mitch@perrysys.com>

BEETLE 'ANGEL' DRIVES TO OLYMPUS

Katie Perry Touched Many In Her Short Life

Christmas is supposed to be a happy time. But this season the Volkswagen

community is grieving the loss of one of its biggest — and, sadly, youngest — fans. On Christmas Day, 17-year-old Katherine Anne Perry drove her father's blue New Beetle TDI to heaven, after she left a southern stretch of Interstate and hit a call box.

Katie Perry touched the lives of many before her tragic departure. She and her father, Mitch Perry, were renowned for their travels across North America and frequent get-togethers with New Beetle owners and enthusiasts, chronicled in detail at their Web site: www.perrysys.com.

"Katie was always my angel and even though she hit some bumps in the road, I always loved her," Mitch Perry writes in an E-mail. "I miss her so much. She was so happy the last few days of her life. She [Katie Perry Follows Father Mitch Perry] was excited about going to college, enjoyed being with me and life in general. She just glowed with love and joy."

In her new silver Bug, Katie Perry follows father Mitch in his blue Bug.

Mitch Perry suffered minor cuts and bruises in the accident. "I love her so much and I now have a huge hole in my heart. To Katie, please save me a place with you. I hope to see you in the future someday. I hope those wings fit okay."

In lieu of sending flowers, donations to a trust at Katie Perry's school are being graciously accepted:

In Dreams     From: Michael Levine <txmrlevine@excite.com>

Mitch,

This may seem a little strange but I had to get this down in an e-mail while it was still sort of clear in my mind.

Katie came to me in several dreams last evening.  The first one was one

where she was with me on a road trip.  We made several stops and had several conversations.  You know how dreams are I can't remember what exactly we talked about.  I woke up and thought how weird that was.

Then back asleep again she cam again and we were at a job where she was my new office mate.  I remember she talked about the night and in the dream you were the one that was gone.  She showed me pictures of the casket and it had a bronze NB statue on it.  She told me she loved you very much.  She also talked about a couple that actually helped you on that fateful night.

I can also remember trying to write her a letter on a post--it as I was leaving for the day that said “see you tomorrow roomie”.  She must have been out of the office for some reason.  Just then she walked in and for some reason I quickly removed the post-it from the pad and rolled it up in my hand.  I then turned to walk out and she grabbed me and gave me a hug and said see you tomorrow.  Then I woke up.

So now I she's out there watching us.  I didn't want to post this to the list because it is kinda personal.  If you wish to forward it there go ahead.

By the way the response to the Bench has been more then overwhelming.  I have collected over 600 dollars already and I believe I am still expecting more money.

Love ya,

Michael
