Katie, like most young kids had a fascination with tattoos. She always wanted one, but her mom would have disowned her if she got one. In Georgia, at 18 years old you no longer need permission from your parents, so Katie planed to get some Chinese letters tattooed down the middle of her back. We had talked about it during our long road trips and I was not crazy about the idea, but eventually had agreed to take her and get a small tattoo myself (NB emblem). I figured if I went, I could convince her to not get a tattoo the size of a billboard:)
After her death, I thought about the idea of still getting a tattoo but I never had one and really wasn't too trilled about the idea. I decided to not get one during January around my birthday. As Katie's birthday approached, it became clear to me that I had made Katie a promise and would get a little tattoo in her honor.
On her birthday at 2pm in the afternoon, I had a small angel tattooed over my heart, with "Katie" below the angel. Picture to be posted in a few days.
