Day 13 of 16
We started this day in the Fort Worth Stockyards with a
quick stop at Billy Bob's followed by a quick stop at David's place of work to
get my check engine light reset.
Unfortunately it wouldn't reset. The VAG says it has
intermediate skipping and running lean. Sad thing is the car has never run
better. We then stopped at Metro VW to use their DSL connection and upload
pictures plus picked up a mirror switch and Blue NM backpack. The Part's guy
gave me a $10 discount on the backpack. Really nice dealer.
Our last stop before leaving the Dallas/Ft Worth was at the
Las Colinas Mustangs. They are a bronze horses, really cool in the pictures
because the fountains look like the water splashing from the horses running
through the creek.
We stopped at the huge statue of Sam Houston on the side of
I-45. After that we ran into rain, allot of rain. Luckily it didn't make
traffic going through Houston worse.
We stopped at Kemeh to have dinner at the Aquarium
restaurant. The rain had stopped but most of the shops were closed even though
it was only 6 pm. But the dinner at the Aquarium was wondering. Naomi and I
split a Broiled Fisherman seafood platter and Heather has popcorn shrimps. She
couldn't stop looking at the fish. Heather went through the Stingray petting
zone and then we rode the train. Heather was so excited and bouncing
everywhere.
We finally arrived in Galveston around 11
pm and checked into the hotel. While driving in, not much seemed to change in
the 4 years, but we haven't driven down the Seawall yet. They do have a new
Home Depot/Target right as you arrive on the Island.
